Texture
Light and crisp, with an airy interior.
Colour
Ivory, with small brown flecks from the seed's outer coat.
Graded by
Size, in suta. A higher suta number means larger pieces.

Quality & selection

The PHOOLZA Standard

Four principles we are building every grade around. How each lot is checked against them will be published once the process is in place.

  • Selected

A grade should be judged on size and appearance before it carries our name.

  • Consistent

A grade should look the same from one lot to the next.

  • Simple

Makhana presented plainly, with nothing to hide behind.

  • Transparent

Clear product and sourcing information, with open items marked as open.
